“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them” ~ Walt Disney
What a difference a day makes! After yesterday’s foul weather we were treated today to glorious sunshine for our short ride from Leongatha to Inverloch. How much more pleasant it was as we set off down the South Gippsland Highway (A440) towards Koonwarra, along a route that our AirBNB host Barry (a keen cyclist himself) had recommended. The route worked out perfectly, taking us on excellent low-traffic roads through delightful countryside.
In no time at all we reached Inverloch where we were once again greeted by a very friendly and helpful motel proprietor, Judith. Her kindness extended to doing the washing for us, for which we were extremely grateful.
Starved for riding on route today, we decided to explore the cycleway along the esplanade. As you can see from the photos, the views were sensational. Throughout our tour we have encountered many wonderful friendly people and the people in this town are no different. We are looking forward to our rest day here tomorrow.
You will notice that today’s blog is very short, the reason being that this is the shortest ride we have had to date.
Hi Kevin,
I’ve been following your journey with keen interest and have enjoyed the photos. The roads appear amazingly quiet and you have incorporated a fair slab of side roads and tracks. I’ll be flying to Melbourne tomorrow (Sat) and then catching the country train to Sale where I’ll be picked up
Sun morning to begin a 6 day ride on 4 of the southern rail trails with Snowy
mountain Cycling. Cheers, Ron
Hi Ron. Good to hear from you. Yes, our route has been mainly on quiet roads. We did plan to ride on more of the rail trails, but the weather has not been kind so preferred asphalt roads. I hope you have better luck with the southern rail trails. Enjoy. Cheers, Kevin
Sorry that you guys have encounter such bad weather. Any consolation we here in NSW have had the same if not worse with trees falling over and slow traffic to where ever.
Love the rain but it is getting a bit too much now!! Happy and safe ride for the future.
Thanks Mels. The weather looks OK today for our ride to Phillip Island.
