“Nothing is far when you want to get there” ~ Queen Marie of Romania

Today we experienced the best of what Australia offers: sand, sea, surf, land and, most importantly, friendly people. It makes us proud to be Australians.

Setting off under a clear blue sky, we followed George Bass Drive for the first 10 Km before taking the Broulee turn-off. Just after the township we turned onto a compacted gravel cycle path recommended to us by our Malua bay host, Sue. It was every bit as scenic as she said it would be, passing through lovely bushland and hugging the coast all the way to Moruya airport. For the next 6 Km into Moruya we rode along North Head Drive alongside the pretty Moruya River.

Passing over the bridge we stopped to look down at the clear water below. To our delight we saw a school of whiting and a massive sting ray. From the bridge we could see a crowd of people at the river-side market, so we headed in that direction and walked our bikes through. Rather than purchase our morning coffee/chai fix from the caravan at the market, we waited until we found an interesting hole-in-the-wall coffee shop on the main street of Moruya.

For the next 35Km after Moruya we made good time along the smooth, wide shoulder of the Princes Highway. Unlike the forests of yesterday, we were treated to verdant green pastures and occasional glimpses of coastline. At the 50 Km point we came to Bodalla where we stopped to eat our lunch near the famous Bodalla cheese factory, watching the alpacas and cattle grazing in the adjacent paddock.

About 12 Km further on, we turned left onto the Narooma to Dalmeny Cycleway passing along the spectacular coastline through Dalmeny and Kianga to Narooma. This is the most amazingly beautiful cycleway we have ever ridden on anywhere in the world.

Riding doesn’t get any better than today.

Once again beautiful scenery. I though that music was the “fruit of life” but it seem riding is the “fruit”t of life for some! keep riding.
